About IRSN

The Immigrant Researchers Support Network (IRSN) was initiated by Access Alliance to promote career success of internationally educated researchers (epidemiologists, statisticians, clinician scientists, qualitative researchers, evaluation experts, etc.) in Canada by providing a networking and peer support platform and offering professional development opportunities.

This IRSN meeting on April 1, 2019 features a keynote speaker, Mr. Shawn McCarty, Manager, Key Partnerships at Windmill Microlending. Shawn’s presentation will focus on ‘Addressing Financial Barriers to Skilled Immigrant Credentialing: Microlending in Practise.’ The meeting will also include a presentation on the findings of a research study by Access Alliance on the Labour Market Barriers facing internationally educated researchers. The last part of the meeting includes a professional development workshop on ‘Effective Communication in the Canadian Workplace’ by Ms. Ann Simon, Lecturer at Ryerson University.
