About this Event

Join us to celebrate Canada’s 30th International Development Week (IDW) at Global Vision, Local Focus: A Dialogue on Gender Equality. Explore global and local perspectives on gender equality and inclusion with with our diverse speakers, including international advocates Didi Bertrand and Cesar Gamez.

Learn about the priorities, challenges, and intersections between local and global practices towards gender equality.

Kristyn Wong-Tam, Councillor, City of Toronto

Josie Scioli, Deputy City Manager, City of Toronto

Didi Bertrand is the Senior Advisor on Community Health and Strategist for Gender, Adolescent Youth’s Health and Development with Partners In Health. A native of Haiti, Ms. Bertrand also leads The Women and Girls Initiative, an adolescent girls’ social protection and empowerment program targeting marginalized adolescent girls and young women operating in Rwanda and Haiti.

Cesar Gamez is an educator and a member of CoCoSI’s theater troupe “Reality on Stage." He is also Co-Founder of Country Breezes, a group of gender non-binary persons from rural impoverished communities of El Salvador. CoCoSi is a partner with the Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF).

Anjum Sultana, Founder of Millennial Womxn in Policy and Director of Public Policy & Strategic Communications, YWCA Canada

 

This dialogue is co-hosted by the Ontario Council for International Cooperation (OCIC) and the City of Toronto’s People & Equity Division.
