The Analyst, Research and Policy is responsible for delivering in person public health onboarding sessions to multiple learning cohorts that aim to build public health core competencies. The incumbent, in collaboration with the team, will develop and implement workforce development initiatives that align with the strategic and operational priorities of the organization. The Analyst is also responsible for project managing multiple workforce development initiatives. The Analyst must work in a self-directed manner and be able to develop collaborative and strategic relationships with internal and external partners.

What you will do in this role: 

  • Apply advanced knowledge of public health sciences to build capacity of our workforce including concepts related to population health, social determinants of health, epidemiology and evidence-informed decision making
  • Synthesize complex information into a wide range of written and visual communication products such as presentations, reviews of research evidence, briefing documents, and policy positions
  • Interpret and analyze complex information to provide strategic recommendations that will guide policy and programming decisions
  • Analyze information to identify emerging issues and trends and incorporate relevant findings into recommendations for policy and program development
  • Monitor, identify, analyze and provide recommendations on trends, risks and opportunities
  • Provide expert interpretation of legislation and internal policies and procedures
  • Monitor, develop, implement and advocate for policies that will have positive population health implications
  • Provide expert guidance to the program and evaluation planning process
  • Ensure issues of diversity, ethnicity, language and culture are reflected in research and policy analyses
  • Prepare complex and specialized documentation, reports and statistical analyses

What the role requires:

  • At least three (3) years of work experience in a Public Health setting
  • A Master’s degree, preferred, in Public Health Sciences or a relevant discipline
  • Broad knowledge of public health issues and workforce development strategies
  • Experience with facilitating adult learning and training sessions and creating engaging learning experiences
  • Experience in evidence-informed decision-making methodology, project management, project leadership
  • Knowledge of analytical, statistical, and epidemiological methods
  • Experience in policy and procedure development
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team setting and across organizational boundaries
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of discretion and diplomacy
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered

  • Excellent facilitation, presentation, organizational skills, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information for a variety of audiences
  • Strong research (with knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods) and analytical skills
  • Well-developed report writing skills
