Salary Range: $86,443 - $108,052 per annum, plus comprehensive benefits

Who we are:  

The Health Equity and System Partnership team works with the Health Leadership Team to embed health equity principles across Health Services. The team also collaborates with external partners to co-design strategies which aim to improve health outcomes for the Black, African and Caribbean Communities in Peel and other marginalized groups and to build upon lessons learned throughout the pandemic response.

What you will do in this role: 

  • Ensures that issues of diversity, ethnicity, language and culture are reflected in all work
  • Monitors, identifies, analyzes and provides recommendations on trends, risks and opportunities
  • Advocates for the embedding of health equity principals and action across the Department
  • Provides expert interpretation of legislation and internal policies and procedures
  • Applies advanced knowledge of public health, health equity, and/or technical knowledge regarding population health, social determinants of health, epidemiology and evidence-informed decision making
  • Synthesizes research evidence, participates in research projects, and assembles best practices
  • Interprets and analyzes complex information to provide strategic recommendations that will guide policy and programming decisions
  • Develops and maintains cooperative, collaborative and strategic relationships with internal and external partners
  • Collaborates with a wide variety of experts, corporate staff, community partner agencies, and federal, provincial and regional colleagues
  • Supports community engagement efforts to learn about communities within Peel
  • Monitors, develops, implements and advocates for policies that will have positive  health equity implications
  • Supports the implementation and evaluation of health equity-related projects aimed at advancing health equity practices

What the role requires:

  • Completed degree in Public Health, Health Sciences, Policy, Planning, Health Administration, Epidemiology, Nursing, Nutrition or related field
  • At least three (3) years of work experience in a Public Health setting
  • Broad knowledge of public health issues and applicable legislation
  • Experience in evidence-informed decision-making methodology, project management, project leadership
  • Experience with epidemiological study design and application of research evidence in practice
  • Knowledge of analytical, statistical and epidemiological methods
  • Experience in policy and procedure development
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team setting and across organizational boundaries
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of discretion and diplomacy
  • Proficient computer skills using Ms Office
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered

  • Excellent facilitation, presentation, organizational skills, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information for a variety of audiences
  • Strong resarch (with knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods) and analytical skills
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role you will have the ability to work remotely and attend on-site when required based on operational requirements at the 7120 Hurontario St, Mississauga, ON worksite.  The frequency of on-site activities may vary on a weekly basis and based on operational requirements. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario.
