Purpose:
The Centre Coordinator is responsible for providing administrative support to the Director and Associate Directors as well as coordinating community outreach programs, administering awards and the administration of financial reports. The incumbent coordinates the Centre's activities, speakers' series, and research events, and supports ORU members and the Centre's governance structure.

Education:
University degree in Indigenous Studies or related field, or an equivalent of 4 years recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.

Experience:
2 years of related work experience in an academic or related research focused unit, Indigenous organization or NGO environment providing financial and administrative support including event coordination and outreach and liaising with funding agencies. Experience working and engaging with Indigenous communities, as well as with Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers, youth, artists and/or activists.

Strong interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Ability to produce clear and concise documentation and reports
Financial administration skills for preparing budgets, monitoring, and reconciliation
Project coordination skills to coordinate Centre's operation, multiple research projects and events
Proven ability to work successfully with a wide range of stakeholders including researchers, students, staff, community groups, and private / public-sector organizations
Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of a team
Ability to maintain confidentiality- Knowledge of Indigenous political and cultural protocols
Intermediate skills in MS-Office (Word, Excel PowerPoint) and Web editing applications, Zoom, WordPress, and graphic design skills for creating posters and reports
