Community Health Worker

(Focus on Newcomers, Immigrants & Refugees)

Temporary Part-Time Position: 28 hours per week

Contract Period: November 2023 to March 2024

Salary Range: $27.32 to $32.79 per hour

Under the supervision of the Manager of Health Promotion & Community Relations and working within the objectives of the program, the Community Health Worker (focus on Newcomers, Immigrants & Refugees) will lead the delivery of support services for priority populations and advocate for greater action on community health issues in Peel. The Community Health Worker is responsible for developing and implementing ongoing community mental health, wellness and social support programs for Newcomers, Immigrants and Refugees at LAMP’s East Mississauga site and ensure that all organizational policies are followed.

This position will also provide leadership, assistance and support applying a social determinants of health framework, while ensuring services are accessible. This includes supporting internal and external client referrals, sharing resources, advocacy on behalf of clients, and participation in individual case coordination as appropriate. This position will also work with an interdisciplinary team and with community partners to effectively and efficiently serve clients, while practice innovative approaches to service delivery applying a health equity lens.
