Access Alliance Multicultural Health and Community Services (AAMHCS) is a Community Health Centre that aims to improve health outcomes for the most vulnerable immigrants, refugees, and their communities. We do this by facilitating access to services and addressing systemic inequities. The Centre envisions a future in which diverse individuals, families and communities can achieve health with dignity. Access Alliance Language Services (AALS) is a social enterprise operating within AAMHCS. AALS delivers high quality language access services to a diverse range of organizations.

Reporting to Team lead, this position involves a wide range of customer service interactions in a fast-paced, environment, supporting the service and information of our clients and interpreters. This is a casual position providing pre-scheduled and last-minute coverage; hours are not guaranteed and will vary. This is a great opportunity for students and individuals with flexible schedules. Locum will be called in to work for hours that fall Monday to Friday between 9:00 am to 5:00 pm for a minimum of 4 hours. Based on the nature of this role, work is on-site at our Spadina and College location. In response to the pandemic, AAMHCH has a robust safety plan in place to protect all of our team members.

Duties include:

• Providing courteous and efficient customer service to clients/customers/interpreters

• Supporting the intake and processing of assignment requests

• Responding to telephone and email inquiries from customers and interpreters

• Providing general administrative and clerical support to the AALS Team as needed

Skills and Qualifications:

• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills;

• Strong communication skills; written, verbal, listening; including an excellent grasp of English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation; including excellent phone demeanor;

• Exceptional knowledge of computers and Microsoft office suite of products; demonstrates advanced proficiency by quickly adapting to new technology and easily acquiring new technical skills;

• Experience in providing front-line support to clients;

• Detail-oriented, excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to work under pressure in an ever-changing environment;

• Proficiency in a second language is an asset;

• Experience in interpreting and translation service sector is an asset;

• Commitment to working with low-income, multi-racial and multi-lingual communities;

• Commitment to working with immigrants and refugees from an anti-racist/ anti-oppression perspective;

Salary: $20.32 per hour
