The successful candidate for this position will work with the project's principal investigator and a multidisciplinary team of scientists, collaborators, knowledge transfer and exchange associates, and other administrative positions to support an environmental scan looking at incentives-based approaches to support stay at work/return to work.

This is a full-time one-year contract hybrid position requiring a minimum of two days of work per week at the IWH offices, located in downtown Toronto.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Project Coordinator/Research Associates are expected to work independently to identify and address challenges that may arise in the implementation and completion of both research and administrative activities associated with a particular project.

Job duties and responsibilities include:

  • Submit, review, revise, and gain approval for research protocols through relevant ethics boards.
  • Effectively communicate with study investigators as well as external groups involved in the research project. 
  • Provide administrative support to ensure the project documentation and associated activities are in-line with best practice and in accordance with relevant IWH policies.
  • Collaborate with the principal investigator and research operations staff to ensure the timely delivery and quality of study reports for research funding organizations.
  • Collaborate with knowledge transfer and exchange staff at IWH to effectively facilitate team meetings involving research and non-research stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of research goals and the selection and development of appropriate study collection and analytical procedures.
  • Undertake other project specific administrative responsibilities (e.g., preparation and dissemination of detailed notes from study meetings) as directed by the principal investigator.
  • Review and assess relevant literature related to the topic area of the research study they are involved in, enabling them to provide input in research team discussions.
  • Assist in the planning of all aspects of data collection, including the implementation and coordination of all data collection activities, and the assembly and maintenance of associated documentation related to the study as directed by the principal investigator.
  • Support data collection and analysis activities under the direction of the principal investigator. Research associates should also contribute to the interpretation of results and in the preparation of materials for presentations, and the writing of publications and/or future grants related to the project findings. Research associates should ensure quality checks of study data and accuracy of study results are undertaken and reported.

This position has limited supervisory duties, but the incumbent will provide guidance and may check on the work of research administrative and research associates working on the project.

Education and experience

The successful applicant will have:

  • Masters degree in a relevant discipline and knowledge of evidence synthesis methods
  • Five or more years of experience in a research setting
  • At least three years of experience in a similar role (ideally related to project management)
  • Excellent multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Superior writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Well-developed ability to work both in a team environment and independently

Salary range

Salary will depend on qualifications and experience and will be in the range of $60,000.00 to $70,000.00 per year. Four weeks annual vacation and a group benefit plan round out the overall package. Suitability for the position will be assessed at three months.
