Research Coordinator (Part-time, time-limited contract)

Job Description: 

The Research Coordinator will support BCCHC’s research activities, undertaken in collaboration with academic and community partners.  The ideal candidate will have strong research and stakeholder engagement experience to support the building and implementation of a research framework for BCCHC. With the goal of generating evidence to achieve equitable health outcomes for the diverse populations served by BCCHC, the Research Coordinator will work closely with stakeholders to synthesize and disseminate knowledge and research findings.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in the development of a framework for research activities at BCCHC in consultation with BCCHC’s Research Advisory Committee and other stakeholders
  • Act as a key link between BCCHC staff, academic partners and the community to identify research priorities for the Centre.
  • Support the Research Advisory Committee including preparing meeting materials, and project update reports.
  • Coordinate implementation and progress of BCCHC research projects.
  • Develop a Community Based Research Engagement Strategy for stakeholders to identify local research priorities and enhance community – academic partnerships.
  • Support Knowledge mobilization and transfer by using research results to write reports, papers and reviews and present findings at conferences and community forums
  • Identify metrics in building research partnerships that consider EGAP principles.
  • Develop training materials and programs to enhance community-based research capacity of BCCHC staff and community residents
  • Act as a key resource to staff on matters of research in adherence to BCCHC’s research policy
  • Participate on internal and external committees relating to research activities.

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • Graduate degree in a health-related field, or a combination of relevant education and work experience;
  • Minimum 3 years experience in community-based research and evaluation, preferably in a community or health setting;
    • Demonstrated project management experience: administrative, time management and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with individuals and groups;
    • Experience working with diverse communities, using an equity and AR/AO lens;
    • Proficiency in the use of computer technology and various software applications including Microsoft 365, and ability to learn and master other computer programs as needed
  • Strong knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods;
  • Demonstrable skills in data analysis and proficiency in literature searches and reviews;
  • Understanding of Knowledge Translation (KT) principles and strategies; some experience carrying out KT activities is an asset
  • Thorough understanding of health promotion and community development principles;
  • Demonstrated success in research proposal writing, interagency networking, partnership building and policy development;
  • Knowledge of a spoken language other than English is an asset
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

Position:  21 hours/week; 12 months duration

Compensation: $35 – $40/hour, based on level of experience

Reports to: The Research Coordinator reports to the Senior Analyst – Planning, Quality and Risk
