Brief Description of Practicum Project:

Shadow Settlement workers with administrative works, completing application forms, clients’ registration Intake/process, observe and adhere to keeping privacy and confidentiality of clients’ personal information, do research on community services information available for client referrals and agree to be observed by Settlement workers when providing service and information to the client.

Be trained with work ethics and discipline, coming to place of placement on time and maintain good record of attendance.

Learning Outcomes/Goals:

To have students be exposed to various actual clients’ cases and situations and to give them the opportunity to assess and apply theories and other things learned in school. Will learn rights and responsibilities of being employed part time or full time

Qualifications/Competencies:  Social Work students

Benefits to the Student:

Student will learn the agency’s policies, protocols appropriate to works being done by Settlement workers with clients’ diverse populations and cultural practices. They can observe respectful and collaborative interpersonal relationship in a professional setting using anti oppressive practice to help clients build capacity for self- advocacy, effective communication verbal and written and proper approach to support clients.
