Job Description

As part of the Communications and Public Affairs portfolio, the Mental Health First Aid Facilitator is responsible for the delivery of the Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Training Program as well as other Ontario Shores trademarked education sessions. Reporting to the Vice-President, Communications and Patient Experience, this role delivers Mental Health Commission of Canada’s MHFA training program.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver MHFA training as mandated by the Mental Health Commission of Canada at Ontario Shores and other external locations including Toronto, Greater Toronto Area and other locations across the province.
  • Possible travel within Canada to deliver courses to clients
  • Deliver Ontario Shores trademarked mental health seminars, workshops and education sessions
  • Collect and compile pre and post data to evaluate the effectiveness of the training and adjust training accordingly to improve scores
  • Flexibility to deliver training 4 to 10 days per month that could include some weekends and evenings
  • Act as a positive ambassador of Ontario Shores 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two years’ experience in mental health or social work role is required
  • Willingness to participate in the five-day Mental Health First Aid Instructor Certification course
  • Certified as a Mental Health First Aid Instructor an asset
  • Experience as an educator/presenter
