Position Summary

The Princess Margaret Genomics Centre is seeking a full-time Research Technician II, with potential for advancement within the PMGC team.

Duties

Working under the direction of senior staff, the successful applicant will utilize standardized laboratory techniques and procedures in genomics and molecular biology applications; perform experiments and analysis; communicate and maintain records of experimental data. As an integral member at the Genomics Centre, a core facility, the research technician must be dedicated and result-driven and will be involved in all aspects of service projects, following SOPs and meeting target deadlines. There will be a special emphasis on techniques for single cell and single nucleus genomics (e.g. 10X Genomics).

Qualifications

  • BSc in genomics, molecular biology or related discipline or higher
  • At least 3 years of experience with standard molecular biology laboratory techniques such as:
  • Experience with PCR reaction set up and purification (necessary)
  • Live mammalian cell handling, including accurate cell counting and dilution (necessary)
  • A willingness to learn new techniques and technologies (necessary)
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills (necessary)
  • Ability to work independently and accurately under deadlines (necessary)
  • Meticulous and detail-oriented (necessary)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a team environment (necessary)
  • Experience with epigenetic assays and/or single cell technologies are considered an asset.
