Summary

Youth and Philanthropy Initiative Canada (YPI) is enthusiastically seeking new board members to join the organization beginning 2024. All interested and qualified candidates are encouraged to inquire. YPI is currently particularly interested in candidates with an education focused background or experience in the field of education and secondary schools. More details can be found below.

Qualifications:
Candidates should be passionate about youth and supporting their efforts to become engaged with their community, social issues, and local charities. A track record of commitment at a board level (i.e. governance experience), and facility working in a team setting is required.  Of particular interest are candidates who possess experience and expertise in the field of education.  This includes (but not limited to) experience as a lead teacher, administrative experience working in secondary schools, an understanding of school elected boards and how they function, knowledge of best practices in teachings, evaluation, curriculum design, and collaborative partnerships.  The willingness and ability to research and prospect potential partners schools a plus.   YPI is committing to having its Board membership reflect a broad range of skills, experiences, and perspectives.  We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, races, ethnic origins, religions, abilities, and sexual orientation.

Time Commitment:
YPI Canada's Board has five full board meetings annually (meetings generally take place in the evening).  Members are also expected to serve on one standing committee (Finance and Audit; Governance and Human Resources; Marketing and Communications, and Fundraising); committees will meet as needed to conduct their business, but at a minimum, prior to each board meeting.
Board members can expect a time commitment of four hours monthly plus additional hours to undertake projects or initiatives related to supporting the infrastructure and growth of YPI.
Service on YPI’s Board of Directors is without remuneration, except for travel and accommodation costs in relation to board members’ duties.
