POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Manager of Clinical Applications and Informatics, the Project Manager-Clinical Applications will use a disciplined approach to plan, execute and finalize complex projects according to strict deadlines, within budget and meeting scope and quality expectations. The position will comply and work in conjunction with the Mission, Vision and Core Values of St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, which fosters a culture of patient and staff safety.
The Project Manager-Clinical Applications will identify IT solution options to meet hospital plans and challenges, and ensure the right team is assembled to execute those solutions successfully. He/she will provide leadership to and coordinate the work of the project team and will monitor and manage the cost, risk, schedule, governance, technical performance, and impact of each of the component projects. He/she will oversee quality control for their assigned projects and ensure all major milestones are met.
In addition to executing the Project Management Plan and subsidiary plans, this individual will adjust the project plans as required.
The successful candidate will manage the scope of the programs/projects, escalate risks and issues and seek their resolution as required.
The position is accountable for the outcome, benefit realization, and the ultimate success of the projects to which he/she is assigned.
The Project Manager – Clinical Applications will partner and negotiate with numerous internal and external stakeholders across the hospital including program sponsors, steering groups and vendors. He/she will work closely with the Manager of Clinical Applications and will also work with the Digital Solutions and operational leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Business, or a relevant clinical field
• Master's degree in a related field preferred
• PMP designation required or demonstrated experience managing progressively larger projects
• 5 to 7 years Project Management Experience managing a range of moderately complex projects in an IT environment
• Healthcare experience would be an asset
• Innovative and forward thinker with ability to implement and effectively lead change
• Highly effective communication skills utilizing established practices
• Solid understanding of the healthcare system and hospital sector
• Highly effective collaborator and facilitator
• Demonstrated success in leading change and utilizing change management frameworks and tools
• Knowledge of established clinical application systems – e.g., Epic
• Evaluation, quality management and continuous quality improvement experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Understanding of marketing principles and commitment to customer service
• Proficient organizational, time management and critical thinking skills with the ability to effectively problem solve
• Advanced skills using MS Project, Visio, SharePoint and other tools as necessary
• Familiarity with PHIPA and PIPEDA legislation
• Understands key information technology concepts and components (e.g., networks, storage devices, operating systems, information retrieval, data warehousing, application, firewalls, etc.) and their inter-relationships
• Demonstrates respect for the joint values and governance of integrated project teams

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Plans, executes, and finalizes projects according to strict deadlines and within budget
• Acquires resources and coordinates the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan
• Develops and executes project management plans for the different projects
• Oversees quality control for the project, manages issues and risks, and ensures that all major milestones are met
• Manages the scope of the project creating clear and attainable project objectives
• Gathers, understands and prioritizes business needs and requirements
• Manages the development, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of quality improvement initiatives which are in alignment with established SJHH Standards
• Monitors quality improvement outcomes on a regular basis; develops action plans to address identified issues
• Coaches staff to ensure that continuous quality improvement initiatives are incorporated into day-to-day activities
• Creates and manages project and resource schedules, and control to ensure on-time completion, within budget and scope
• Develops the risk management plan; manage project risks; implement risk mitigation plans
• Provides periodic status updates of project progress to key stakeholders
• Motivates, mentors, evaluates and directs team members; solves conflicts; assigns tasks; monitors execution of assigned tasks
• Escalate issues, propose solutions, monitor implementation of the solutions
• Monitors and controls the delivery of the project deliverables, and ensure that the business requirements are being addressed and that user acceptance is achieved
• Monitors execution of the Change Management Plan and the Communications plan to ensure that the organization and the impacted staff are prepared to function effectively in the new environment
• Guarantees that any new system being implemented will not in any way negatively impact Patient Safety
