The Knowledge Translation (KT) Program at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michael's Hospital is currently looking for a Research Assistant II to join our dynamic and collegial team. The primary role of a Research Assistant II is to support implementation and research activities across a range of healthcare sector projects. Currently, we are seeking an individual to take on a full time (1.0 FTE) 12-month contract to support the Team for Implementation, Evaluation, and Sustainability (TIES) within the KT Program. This position will involve supporting research teams with all phases of research in strict compliance with the protocols, laws, regulations, policies, guidelines, and procedures. Typical activities include developing project materials, connecting with high-profile stakeholders (e.g., government partners, communications experts), scheduling and coordinating meetings, interviews, and focus groups. Additional research activities include quantitative and qualitative data analysis and manuscript/report writing. Previous experience supporting research and strategic projects in a healthcare or community setting, consensus building, conducting interviews, coding qualitative data, event planning, and research ethics submission is a major asset.

Examples of the kind of work we do include: developing and implementing strategies to increase the uptake of guidelines, building supportive relationships amongst diverse stakeholders, creating tools for different end-user groups, and evaluating implementation projects. The position requires working with a large number of stakeholder groups (clinical, research, administrative, and client/patients); therefore, excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are essential. This position will offer the successful applicant a challenging and rewarding environment, with the opportunity to help improve the healthcare sector.

Duties & Responsibilities:

· Develop/ maintain strategic relationships with participants, on- and off-site staff, community site contacts, colleagues and stakeholders, including tailoring communications to different end-user groups

· Develop dissemination and communication strategies with stakeholders, including study updates and newsletters

· Conduct participant recruitment; schedule interviews, focus groups, and priority setting activities

· Follow hospital, ethics, privacy regulations and KT Program’s policies and procedures

· Collect and assist in the processing and compilation, verification, maintenance, and archiving of research data

· Develop and maintain accurate records of all participants and their progress during projects, including their eligibility, follow-up, withdrawal, and other relevant information

· Provide feedback to participants and research staff and arrange follow-up, as required

· Prepare forms (e.g., reimbursement forms, Research Ethics Board (REB) applications, contract submission forms)

· Conduct literature searches, assisting with report writing

· Code qualitative data

· Work with KT Program colleagues to create a collegial work environment

 

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Science, Public Health Sciences, Social Sciences (e.g., psychology), Bioethics, Clinical Sciences (e.g., social work), Business, Health Administration and 1 year of relevant experience required, or equivalent combination of specialized education and experience

· Excellent strategic thinking skills and proven ability to navigate stakeholder partnerships with tact

· Excellent attention to detail and proven ability to learn new skills

· Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a timely manner

· Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously

· Flexibility to adapt to changing project needs

· Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, including plain language communications

· Ability to work in and contribute to a diverse, collegial team environment

· Proficient in document management, in both electronic and hard copy forms

· Able to follow written and verbal directions

· Experience in co-design principles and mixed methodologies is an asset

· Experience in recruiting and interviewing participants for qualitative studies is an asset

· Experience coding qualitative data (particularly using NVivo software) is an asset
