I am a Public Health Nutrition professional with a Ph.D. in Nutritional Sciences and an MSc.in Public Health Nutrition from Tehran University of Medical Sciences, and BSc degree in Nursing. I have more than 10 years of research experience on food security and public health nutrition; and solid experience in analyzing cross-sectional, longitudinal, and survey datasets with appropriate statistical methods. I have worked in development and humanitarian organizations in Ethiopia and have proven skill and experience in effectively managing diverse, multi-donor funded program portfolios implemented in challenging development and emergency contexts in the area of public health nutrition and food security. I have also worked with several research groups in Iran and Ethiopia and has published more than 20 peers reviewed papers along with conference papers and proceedingabstracts. My research primarily focuses on the food insecurity, dietary diversity and nutritional status of preschool children in a low-income population. I have also carried out several studies on the effect of food insecurity on obesity and obesity-related chronic diseases. In recent years, my research has focused on assessing the association of dietary inflammatory index, food insecurity, diet quality and metabolic phenotype in obese adults. With my extensive research experience in nutritional research I aspire to continue my research in this area in Canada.
