I completed bachelor's in Veterinary Medicine from a reputed institute in India. During my masters in Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension, I was introduced to developmental and community related projects of Agrarian communities. Due to my passion to contribute to the development of vulnerable communities, and to acquire a global view on sustainable development, I studied PhD in International Development Studies from University of Reading, United Kingdom. After my PhD, I joined the University of Western Ontario as a postdoctoral fellow, and also worked as research assistant at Ryerson University. I started my first research in 2006 as a master student, and since then worked on several research projects of my own as well as affiliated with universities across India, UK and Canada.

I had taught ‘principles of sociology’ for undergraduates and ‘participatory research techniques’ to masters students, and also conducted research on pressing development issues. I have 17 publications including peer reviewed journal papers, magazine articles, abstracts and conference papers. I am active in collaborating and had presenting my research work in international conferences held in countries like Canada, United Kingdom, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, Finland, Norway and Scotland. I am currently engaged with Alpha Education as a voluntary researcher and working on ‘digital archive project’. Besides, I am working as a supply teacher at YMCA.

My research interest in general are poverty (conceptualization and measurement), gender inequalities, social and institutional policies, women empowerment, participatory communication theories and frameworks, and development communication. Also, I am interested in research on poverty and social determinants of health, disability and employability inclusion, inequalities, and family/domestic violence/abuse focusing on refugees, South Asian immigrants and indigenous/Inuit population.

I am expecting to get networked with professionals of common research interest through this platform.
