Emal Stanizai is an internationally trained physician specialized in public health. He holds an MD degree from Afghan University and an MA degree from University of York, United Kingdom. He also completed a one-year fellowship program at Georgetown University in the United States where he received a certificate in International Health and Advanced Studies.

Emal has more than 10 years of relevant work experience with public health projects, program management, and research. He has been engaged, part-time and full-time, with several national and international organizations, UN, and governmental agencies. He has worked in various multi-disciplinary capacities where his scope of work ranged from delivery of emergency humanitarian assistance during the conflict era to the development of more complex developmental programs in post-conflict situations. He has professional work experience in Afghanistan, Pakistan, United Kingdom, the United States of America, and Canada.
